Happy Chinese New Year

Isn't it ironic that we are about to usher another new year in less than 1 month ? Just 3 weeks back I was ask about my new year resolution for 2009 and 3 weeks later, we are celebrating yet another new year. This is Malaysia, the BOLEH land where everything is possible, we can have new year holiday twice in a month. Bet you wont have this privileges in most western countries.

Anyway, as we prepare to celebrate the Year of the OX, lets cross our fingers and hope it will bring miracle and turn things around for the better. As most of us know, the current economy situation is getting worse by the day and more people are losing their job. Malaysia is not spared from the current economy downturn as a result of the American Financial Institution’s meltdown. Not only the poor suffer, cause the rich and famous also saw their wealth plummeted tremendously. Even Iceland as a country has to be declared bankrupt.

As the year of the Rat comes to an end and the year of the Ox is just about to begin, may the year of the OX bring bullish prospect to the global economy, and bull run in the financial market. This I believe would be the best gift for people from all walks of life.

Kong Xi Fa Cai, Happy Chinese New Years to all my friends and readers. May you be blessed with good wealth and great health and not forgetting a joyous year ahead.

Regards,
Charlie Chia

TENJI not just another Japanese Restaurant

WARNING!!! This Post is heavily loaded with photos. Please be patient while the photos load.

To celebrate the New Year (2009), my boss decided to have a meeting on the 1st working day of the year which happen to fall on 2nd of January 2009. Since its gonna be the first meeting of the year, we decided to have something informal and relaxing. So we end up having our meeting at DiGi 360, DiGi's latest Flagship Store located at SoHo KL a.k.a Solaris KL.

It was indeed a rather relaxing meeting, but what happen right after the meeting was even better. We had lunch, not any ordinary lunch, but Japanese Buffet. Yes we had Japanese Buffet for lunch at TENJI, the latest addition to Kuala Lumpur wide variety of dining hotspot. TENJI is somehow model similarly to Jogoya, an infamous Japanese Buffet Restaurant located at Starhill Gallery, Bukit Bintang.

Strategicly located at Mont Kiara, TENJI is located on the 1st Floor of Soho KL. Since its official launch on 19 Dec 2008, TENJI have been actively running a fantastic promotion. From 19 dec 2008 till 15 Jan 2009, Lucnh Buffet cost only RM29.90++/pax for 1 hour, RM39.90++ (for 2 hours) and RM49.90++ for entire lunch session. This is rather cheap comparatively to what Jogoya is charging at RM99/pax. Food wise, its relatively good, infact I find TENJI to have much more choices.
I'm sure many of your reading this must be cursing me now, since I am posting this on the 15th of Jan 2009 which happens to be the last day of the promotion.
But hey, dont worry, the owner has decided to extend the promotion till 15th February 2009 because of the good respond. The place is said to be fully booked for the past 2 week. (The owner is one of my colleague's client so we managed to get a place for lunch).

Japanese Buffet for RM29.90, you must be kidding me.

Kids below 90cm in height get it for FREE. gosh sometimes i wish I wasnt so tall (LOL macam lah I am dam tall.) But seriously you should try it while the promotion is still on. Please take note that I dont earn any commision for promoting, and I certainly do not have any shares in it.

My Team. L to R: Jackie, Joshua, Josephine, Yee Meng, Cherlyn, Allie, Oki, Priscilla, Nicholas, Yumiko, Nick, Bianca, KK, Joanne, James and lastly Me.

My team mingling around at the enterance.

We were basically hanging around as we were early, and they have not prepare the place for us.

TENJI is just on the 1st Floor, right infront of the escalator.

The receiption.

This are the VVIP dining area

Unfortunately the place is close during our visit, and the manager which shows us around said that its too far from the buffet line, thus not so viable to give us the VVIP dining area.

The path to the buffet line leads us to a big open air balcony which offer's a magnificient view of the Jalan Duta Toll (NKVE). The view is said to be awesome during the night, at it offers a breath taking view of KL Skyline, the KLCC and KL Tower.

We dine here, overlooking Changkat View Condominium.

It was my first time here and guess who I meet while dining there, its LIANG, a local entertainer. For your info, Liang is my senior back in University and he has been emceeing for a few nuffnang events, such at the Pajama Party, WildLive Party, and the Haloween Party. Sadly Liang dont remember when I first call him. I know I am not famous lah, but he is my senior, and we also meet on several location such at the HELP 21st Anniversary Gala, Nuffnang Pajama Party and the Halaween Party. Hope he remember me the next time we meet again, most probably at another nuffnang's event.

Just like any other bloggers, the Camera Phone always comes in handy, especially when we need to snap photos like the one below:

New Year, New Resolution.

This came rather late as I was too busy ushering the new year and travelling some 1000 kilometer in less than 48 hours.

The recent new year eve was rather spontaneous, because I initially had plan to meet up some friends, but in the end some people FFK(Fong Fei Kei, go ask any of your Chinese friends if you don't understand what it means) so I end up not having a plan for new year eve. Thus I indulge myself with work at the office till 6pm plus and that's when i got a message from Simon from Simon Says asking me if I got any tickets to the countdown concert at 1Utama which is sponsor by my company.

After making some calls, I managed to ask my colleague to reserved some tickets aka Yellow Pass to the event. Soon after that i rushed back home to bring my family out for dinner, had a shower before meeting up with Simon at about 9.30pm.

Everyone were given this gigantic hand!!! don't know what you actually call it though

The Yellow Pass which I wore around my wrist.

The Spectacular firework display.

This year, the firework display is rather special, because it a musical firework display, which simply means that the firework is specially designed to rhyme with the background music.

Another snap shot....

Sorry for the rather low quality photo, I think my beloved Sony Ericsson W810i is is getting old. Especially after much wear and tear over the years. Maybe I should include a new camera phone in my 2009 wish list. Nokia 97 would be a perfect replacement for my aging Sony Ericsson.

Justin from Hong Kong showing off his talent. Together with him is 2 Deejays from 988 Radio Station.

Justin & 998 Deejays entertaining the crowd.

Throughout the night, the crowd were entertain by 98.8's deejays and various local & HK artist. However being an OCBC (Orang Cina Bukan Cina) or Banana, I'm only able to understand 70% of what they are singing or even saying. As such, I didn't really enjoy the night, except for the magnificent firework display

The massive crowd leaving....

There were an estimated crowd of 10,000 people, so you can imagine the how bad the traffic was when the event actually comes to an end. Anyway lucky for my, I parked my car outside of 1Utama, thus I was spared from the massive traffic jam which got the whole LDP jammed up. FYI, there were 2 massive celebration, one at 1Utama and another at The Curve.

Looking back at 2008, time really flew. I've been with my my current company for more than a year and I must say I'm lovin it very much. Its not just about the money, but the satisfaction whenever I successfully conclude a big deals. Despite the weakening economy outlook, I'm actually looking forward to another successful. Wont comment on whats in the pipeline, but I will definitely reveal it when the time is right.

2009 will also a memorable year for DiGi, as it gear up for the maiden launch of its 3G services as well as broadband. Maxis & Celcom, get ready for an intense competition, cause DiGi is definitely gonna give you a tough ride....

That's all for now..... Happy New Year and may 2009 bring you greater wealth, both financially and physically.
